PHILOSOPHY
As a designer, I see the world in a manner that most never get to see. Design is the practice of thinking about & creating objects & visual elements based on how we interact with them. We do this as designers so other people don’t have to think about it. I don’t just pick up a mug; I think about the choice of color, the position & size of the handle, and how the hand should be placed on the mug. I have the same reaction when I look at typography, clothing, furniture, basically everything. It all becomes a wonderful question about it’s existence & a constant source of inspiration.
BACKGROUND
I had a short stint as an architecture student at UC Berkeley before I dropped out & moved to the other side of the country for a year. When I returned, I explored different creative avenues at American River College, such as Graphic Design & Photography, subsequently transferring to the California College of the Arts to pursue a Graphic Design degree. I left that college as well after a year to explore my own creative endeavors & simply live in San Francisco. I wanted to take in & be inspired by the vibrant lifestyle of the city. As much as I loved school, I wanted to know that I could create design without a structure system of deadlines. I wanted to wake up & feel drive enough to continue to do creative work, even if I never got paid for it. Thankfully I do.
